IUP's Strategic Plan for 2020–25 is designed to transform the culture at IUP to enhance the student experience by fostering exceptional student-centeredness. Transformation will include reordering resources to ensure every student is engaged and can be successful at every point in their journey—transitioning to the university, while enrolled at IUP, and after their time at IUP.

Overview

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a public institution that was founded in 1875. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 7,339 (fall 2021), its setting is rural, and the campus size is 374 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Indiana University of Pennsylvania's ranking in the 2022-2023 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, #331-440. Its in-state tuition and fees are $11,290; out-of-state tuition and fees are $17,464.

 

Better known as IUP, Indiana University of Pennsylvania is located about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Students at IUP can choose from more than 140 bachelor's programs and more than 60 graduate degrees, including those in the Eberly College of Business and Technology, the education school and the criminology department. IUP students can enhance their studies by enrolling in the Cook Honors College, which offers a more demanding curriculum, and by checking out the Career Development Center, which plans on-campus interviews with employers, advising sessions, internship opportunities and career fairs.

 

Besides academics, IUP students can join more than 250 campus clubs, Greek life and intramural sports teams. More serious athletes can try out for the IUP Crimson Hawks varsity teams, which compete in the NCAA Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. IUP’s feathered mascot goes by the name Norm, which is a reference to the school's original name – Indiana State Normal School. Notable IUP alumni include Chad Hurley, the co-founder and former CEO of YouTube.

UP's main campus is in Indiana, Pennsylvania, a welcoming, safe, and friendly college town of about 15,000 people. Indiana is an hour's drive from Pittsburgh, offering students easy access to the city.

Financial Assistance


All degree-seeking, international students (F-1 or J-1 visa status) are reviewed for financial assistance from IUP's Office of International Education through a Partial Tuition.
